Day 2 Tue. Garden of St Erth, Mt Sturgeon, Southern Grampians.

Enjoy a visit to the Garden of St Erth this morning. The site was originally a town of 13,000 people during the gold rush. Now, 150 years later, there is just one remaining stone cottage. The garden is one of Australia’s most exciting cool climate gardens, with daffodils and other bulbs in September and lupins and oriental poppies in flower in December. The 2-hectare garden is home to an extensive collection of rare and unusual plants. After strolling the gardens continue via Ballarat to the Southern Grampians region. Visit a country garden, exploring the beautiful landscaped garden and grounds of Mt Sturgeon. Here we can see plantings that are in sympathy with the natural environment, and unique Grampians vegetation including many species of wildflower specific to the region.
